Snow Day…

Snow
Day! Yeeehaaaa!! No WAVE today – build a snowman instead 🙂

Break from the Quake Postponed until October…

Youthtown is postponing this week’s
Break From The Quake camps due to uncertainty around flights and weather
conditions. With Air NZ flight delays, camps would have had delayed starts and campers
not able to enjoy a whole 5 day experience. Youthtown remains committed to
providing an amazing week-long camp experience for our second group of campers
during the week of 17-21 October.

Although we’re a little sad, and we have to unpack our bags, we’re glad to be in Christchurch enjoying the snow and knowing we’re not going to miss out on the camp.  In October the weather should be warmer and it’s also in World Cup Final week, so there’ll be a buzz around the place!  If you’re looking for something to do this week, we’re running activities at 2pm everyday in New Brighton Library (see our recent Post) and Youthtown will also be running daily activities – see their website.  Keep on snowing!!!!

All Flights Cancelled

All flights
going on the Break from the Quake have been cancelled today.  Youthtown will be contacting everyone this
afternoon with new plans – hopefully rearranged flights for tomorrow.  Keep an eye on the Youthtown Christchurch
Facebook page for updates
(http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Youthtown-Christchurch/184517281597551).
Today – it’s SNOW DAY!!!

Break from the Quake – Flights

Those going
to the Break from the Quake trip in Auckland should check the youth town fb
page as they are keeping it updated with the latest news on what is happening
in regards to when we are going.  Go
build a snowman in the meantime 🙂

New Brighton Library Holiday Activities

New Brighton Library is working in Partnership with Youth Alive Trust and CCC to run daily activities at 2pm each weekday for young people.  This is a new venture, in light of the decreased recreational activities now available on the east side of Christchurch and the need to bring stability and positive role models amongst our young people.  Activities include Zumba, Art Class, Flying Kiwi Circus, Chalk Art, Basketball and a 3pm movie everyday.  For a full list of the programme, click on this poster:

96 of us are going on a Free Trip to Auckland!!

Our young people have been blessed by charity Youthtown, who are flying 86 of them to Auckland in the school holidays for a Break from the Quake – for free! Everyone is very excited – including our 10 leaders who are needed as chaperones!  This Break From The Quake, is a much needed holiday for the young people aged 10 – 17, many of which have moved house, sometimes 3 times, most of them have moved schools, many are living with family who’ve lost jobs, and everyone has is being constantly affected by the aftershocks!  It’s just what we needed – Thanks Youthtown 🙂

All Clubs Operating

All clubs are operating as normal this week – the building has been Green stickered 🙂

Entertainment Books – Sold Out

Thanks to the many who bought Entertainment Books through Youth Alive.  Although we didn’t sell as many as hoped, it was a fundraiser that we build on in years to come. We are no longer taking any more orders for Entertainment Books as they are nearly sold out! See Ronald McDonald House if still looking.
