Break from the Quake…
A HUGE Thanks to Youthtown Auckland, Youthtown Christchurch and their sponsors for organising the recent Break from the Quake for teenagers from Christchurch. We were priviledged to take 86 young people who were connected to our clubs and programmes to camp Mota Moana, and were treated to an all expenses action packed camp + 8 of our leaders! We visited the Sky Tower, Eden Park, Rainbows End, Auckland Zoo, Motat, Zeal, The Viaduct and had a days worth of outdoor water activities! Everyone had an amazing time! Holiday Programmes
Our October Holiday Programmes are now full – 50 children will be attending in week 1.
Sodium – Facelift
Sodium, the Friday night Drop-In is closed for at least the rest of term while it undertakes a Facelift.
Amped Camp
Amped Camp last weekend was an amazing experience with our intermediates group – Rock Solid – joining with 165 intermediates from around the City. The young people are still singing the songs and had a great time! If you want to see the highlights video click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3kvMqZrpVs
Family Fun Night 2011
Family Fun Night will again be running on Monday 31st October at Beach Campus from 5pm – 7:30pm. Now in its 6th year, volunteers fro Youth Alive Trust & Grace Vineyard Church will be running stalls, games, BBQs, bouncy castles, arts and crafts, cafe and entertainment in a safe and fun environment! Families love that an alternative to Trick or Treating still gives children a place to get lollies and prizes, without having to knock on strangers doors – and it’s a lot more fun! We’ve had so much positive feedback over the years, and it just seems to keep growing with popularity. For only a gold coin donation, which helps cover the costs, and a grant from Christchurch City Council, this is one of New Brightons best children’s events.
New Brighton Library Holiday Activities
Youth Alive Trust are partnering with New Brighton Library to run 2 weeks of holiday activities in October. This venture was only started in the last set of holidays in response to the lack of recreational activities in the area. Feel free to join Kirsten, Jeremy, Sam and the librarians as they run activities from 2pm every weekday and show a movie at 3pm. Children are not to be left alone. See the poster for the full list of activities (some will change depending on the weather)
