Friday Nights!

There’s a lot of action down in New Brighton on a Friday: 1) Take-aways and 2) Youth Clubs!!  Both our Intermediate and High School Youth Clubs start tonight, and if you’re looking for a fun and safe place to send your child/nephew/neighbour – send them our way!  Rock Solid starts at 4:30pm for a Candy Night, and Surge starts at 7pm for a Dessert Night.  Other events this term include a trip to the RAMS game, Music Video making, Pool Parties, Chill Nights and hanging with awesome volunteer leaders. Technology Parenting Seminar

Eastside parents, caregivers, grandparents, teachers, or anyone working with young people are invited to a seminar to update you on how technology is affecting young people, and some tips and techniques to protect them and your family. Led by the hilarious Christian Gallen, an experienced Attitude presenter, part of The Parenting Place, who has done inspirational talks to over 100,000 New Zealand young people!! Cake & Coffee also provided with thanks to funding from the Burwood Pegasus Board of the Christchurch City Council, through the New Brighton Community Safety Partnership. Technology Seminar for Parents 2016

I Love New Brighton 2016 Highlights

Over 4,000 people and over 30 community groups descended onto Thomson Park to celebrate New Brighton on Waitangi Monday. The annual ‘I Love New Brighton’ event was packed with activities, sports, market stalls, live bands and an awesome community atmosphere. Highlights included the Sidecar Rides, the Fire Brigade fire demonstrations, the giant slide, petting zoo and live performances – particularly from the Takumi Japanese Drummers and local youth band, OutLoud, a group of 16 year old girls. Comments came flooding onto facebook after the event, Alia Eckford wrote, “Amazing!!!!!! Thank you so much!!! What a wonderful idea!!! It’s why we live in New Brighton”, Brad Swindale wrote, “Thanks so much! Me and my boy love Brighton. I was born and breed and proud to say we are still here. Awesome event – thanks everyone!” Chris Fortnun, “Such a good event, I can’t thank the people enough for giving up their free time. Those face painter’s put in some hard yards – lot’s of happy children and families!” Emma Gustavsson, “Thought we might be there for 30min, stayed for 3 hours-awesome!!!” The event was coordinated by Youth Alive Trust, New Brighton Project, Rawhiti Community Sports Inc and the Burwood Pegasus Recreation Team, with thanks to funding from Christchurch City Council and Summer of Fun. Bump Antenatal

It’s the circle of life – and at Youth Alive Trust we’re support young expectant parents before their beautiful babies have been born. BUMP Antenatal classes are a free, fun, friendly and informative 6 week course in partnership with the CDHB and The Birthing Room. Places are still available for our first course , which now starts on Tuesday 2nd February. 2016 Ante Natal Dates Released

We’re excited to be launching six more BUMP Antenatal classes in 2016 for e parents to be, under the age of 24.
The BUMP journey is a holistic approach to parenting education in partnership with the CDHB and The Birthing Room. Places are still available for our first 6 week course, which starts on Tuesday 26th January, so please pass this information onto people you know who may need it.
