2. NEW Vans
We’re stoked to announce that YAT has now replaced its two older vans after 2 years of fundraising! The old Transit and 20 year old Hiace have both been replaced with 12 seater Toyota Hiace Minivans (2016 & 2014) thanks to various funders such as Rotary and 20 individual donors who gave anything from $40 to $5,000 as well as the Crichton Cobbers legacy fund and their trade-in value. We now begin our fundraising drive to build garaging to protect these 3 vans from the sea elements.
3. After School Oscar (School Years 5 – 9)
We have some awesome activities planned for the winter term coming up, including CIRCUS SKILLS WORKSHOPS every TUESDAY! This has been funded by CreativeNZ and we have a maximum of 20 places for the 10 week term, so there is no extra cost if you’re enrolled on our Tuesday Oscar. The workshops run from 3:30-5:00pm at the Roy Stokes Hall, over the road from our offices, by the Christchurch Circus School and will be learning Aerial Arts: trapeze, silks and lyra, Balancing /equilibristic arts: globes, rola-bola stilts and tightwire and learn acrobatics and juggling arts. The rest of the week timetable:
Mondays: Kitchen Klub
Tuesdays: Circus Skills
Wednesdays: Kōtirotiro Girls Club or Boys Activities
Thursdays: Tamatāne Boys Club or Craft Club
Fridays: Rock Solid
We now do pick up’s from 5 local schools; Rawhiti, SNBS, NBC, Nova and Chisnallwood, in our 3 modern Hiace 12 seater minivans and many are also eligible for the government subsidy (eg: if you have 2 children, you have to be earning more than $1,600 a week to not get anything). Register now: https://yat.aimyplus.com/ or email Shelly with any questions: rego@yat.org.nz
4. Upcoming Events
We’re about to release information of two workshops we’re running in partnership with MHERC on Suicide Prevention, on Tuesday 28th July. We’re also planning a massive Intermediates EPIC Dance Party on Friday 18th September and can confirm our holiday programmes will again be in Week 1 of the October School Holidays, 28th Sept – 2nd October.

Youth Alive Trust and Grace Vineyard Beach Campus have just invested in a Community Defibrillator, that can now be accessed from outside the building entrance. There are other AED’s in our community inside various venues, but if you need one outside of working hours, this one can be accessed 24-7, 7 days a week, at 111 Seaview Road, New Brighton. It’s very easy to use, you don’t even have to press any buttons, it makes all the decisions for you. It is covered by a security camera, an alarm goes off if it’s opened, has an inbuilt GPS and is currently being uploaded to the AED locator systems. We pray nobody needs to use it, but it’s there just in case. Feel free to share this information with your networks and community. Kia Kaha
