Youth Alive Trust are honoured to be chosen as custodians of the Roy Stokes Hall. If your community group is needing hall space, please get in touch.

The Roy Stokes Hall is based in central New Brighton and has served a wide variety of community organisations and the old Central New Brighton School since the 1970s.

The hall is available for hire for community groups and community events. We aren’t currently taking private one-off bookings such as parties, weddings or funerals, as our focus is on providing affordable regular spaces for community groups. The hall is used regularly by the following groups – please contact them direct if keen to be involved:

There is regular availability most daytimes during the week, Saturdays after lunch and most Sundays, but very limited evening availability.

If your community group is looking for an amazing hall, for the cost of $30 an hour, including power and wi-fi. $40 an hour for Friday and Saturday events. Email enquiries:

3 Opportunities to rent space at the Roy Stokes Hall in New Brighton in 2026!

1) A Large Studio, with its own kitchenette, toilets, and access 7 days a week. May suit artist, office, dance or classroom – just $375 per week including power and wifi.

2) A Small Studio under the stage, with its own sink and access 7 days a week. May suit artist or office – just $120 per week including power and wifi.

3) Community Hall – large space, with spaces available during the daytimes, weekends, and limited spaces on Tuesday and Fridays after school. Suitable for community groups, dance groups, fitness, church’s, and low key sport. Limited storage. NOT available for parties, weddings or personal events. Just $30 per hour including power and wifi.

The Background

Youth Alive Trust were made custodians of the hall in 2023, after an open tender ran by Christchurch Development Limited.

We know a lot of local people fundraised to build the hall and we pledge to oversee the hall as a long-term community asset. It has so much potential and possibilities, and we look forward to working with existing and new community organisations to best serve our local people.

This won’t change where Youth Alive Trust runs any of its existing programmes or where our current offices are, it’s just an extension of our wider community support.
