 Free Family Fun Day with live music, sport, free BBQ and entertainment!  Local band Smokin’ Jacket have reformed for this event and will be performing on the Band Rotunda along with Pacific reggae band NiuSeiLAH. 

 

 

 

91zm will be giving away free sausages, Tiddlers will be running races, Skate School will be lending gear, there’ll be free candy floss, ice blocks, bouncy castles, pirates and more.  This community lead initiative is a chance to celebrate the resilience of the community we all love, and have some outdoor fun together!

This event is part of other New Brighton events that same weekend, including the New Brighton Market with pancake races and the Switch Cafe Solo Saturday Sessions.

Free Childrens Football Programme

 

Football Legend WYNTON RUFER and his top coaches from his Auckland Academy WYNRS will offer a FREE Football Fest for the kids in the East of Christchurch who have suffered so much with the earthquake …. (NOTE: this is for kids from the East only!)

 

NOTE:  Current All White player AARON CLAPHAM will be there on Wednesday!

Our April Holiday Programme is now full.  We give priority to those who’ve come on previous programmes. so if you wish to be added to the waiting list please contact us.

Our weekly clubs have resumed!

 

Cheeky Little Monkeys (Years 1 – 4) Wednesdays 3 – 4:45pm

WAVE (Years 5 – 6) Mondays 4:30 – 6pm

Rock Solid (Years 7 – 8) Friday 4:30 – 6pm

Sodium Youth Cafe (Years 9 – 13) Friday 7pm – 9:30pm

 

No clubs are full, so you can just turn up.  There will be no clubs over the holiday period, but they will resume in week 1 or week 2 of next term.  For confirmation email office@yat.org.nz or call 3885459.

Appointment – Gemma Creek

We are happy to make the annoucement of Gemma Creek as our new High Schools Youthworker.  She will be employed part time to look after Sodium, Sodium Breakaway, work in Aranui High and the New Brighton Library.  Gemma has been working in the Aranui Community for over 5 years and has a Diploma in Youthwork with Praxis.  She has been working for us at the New Brighton Library since 2008.

Successful EQ Childrens Programmes

A MASSIVE thank you to the many volunteers, organisations and entertainers who worked alongside us as we deleivered childrens programmes after the Feb Earthquake.  Our daily programme ran for 11 days, and over 1500 children signed in!  We had very positive feedback from parents, children and the community, such as this letter from a local parent:

Earthquake Childrens Programme

Youth Alive Trust will be leading a Childrens Programme at Central New Brighton all week from 10:30 – 12:30noon, as respite for parents, fun for the kids and bringing back a sense of routine and normality. If you want to volunteer contact James on 0276376465 or if you have a particular skill or resource that could be used at one of our many stations – please contact us 🙂

Earthquake Response

We’re helping run the Respite Centre Grace Vineyard Beach Campus & Central New Brighton School between 8am – 8pm everyday, with water, food, advice, a chat and a prayer for all those who need it. Anyone with urgent church or pastoral needs can call 379 2329. Anyone wanting to join teams of volunteers cleaning up the communities can meet at Beach Campus with your spade and tools anytime during the day! God Bless
